A self-explanatory photo from 1947. Christopher J T Carr (no relation to our Hon Sec!) attended Chatham House during the 1940s. After leaving the School he did his National Service in the RAF - secretly working at Bletchley Park. He then worked in HM Customs & Excise at Dover. Promotion took him to London and back to Dover where he stayed until he retired in 1989. He continued his amateur radio interest in a shed at the bottom of his garden. He gave up his other passion of cricket but continued his love of stamp collecting - his father having owned the stamp shop in Chatham Street until 1971. He moved to Grimsby in 2014 with his wife to be closer to his family. Chris passed away in 2022 at the age of 90 after a long battle with dementia. His wife passed too in November 2025.
Was anyone else a member of the CHSRS??
With thanks to Chris' daughter Toni.
